Hello Spring

I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion.

As I look out the window, the signs of spring are everywhere: the sun is shining (at the moment) and the grass has already had its first hair-cut!

This time of year always lifts the spirit as the dullness of the winter rains give way to the freshness and blooms of spring.  In our business, this also means that our sales season has been narrowed down to a few very critical months. Distributors and retailers are in an all-out assault to first anticipate and then capture sales before the spring eventually gives way to the heat of the summer. What we see so far is that Retailers are optimistic and stocking orders have been strong.  Orders have been decent as well from distributors.  Looking at the local markets, we see just a few soft markets (perennial ryegrass and red clover) with a number of firm ones (annual ryegrass, bluegrass and fine fescue).

As we together dream of what we hope is a big spring run, I would like to say a special thank you to our team members who make it happen.  Without all of the individual contributions, the wheels would come to a grinding halt.  I encourage any of you reading this newsletter to feel free to stop by our office and meet the team behind the big glass windows- you’ll be as impressed as I am!

Take Care,

James Schneider
