Location: Barenbrug USA Headquarters, Tangent, OR



The Director of Marketing and Brand Management is responsible for managing marketing in the lead including Market Intelligence, Market Development for existing and future products, and the Strategic Direction of Marketing Objectives within the professional turf, forage and export sectors at Barenbrug USA. This position works closely with both external customers as well as internally with multiple departments to accomplish the functions and responsibilities outlined below:


Essential Functions


Direct Action

  • Understand the company’s goal and purpose to enhance the company’s performance
  • Serves on Management Team and reports to a Senior VP
  • Manage customer experience with Barenbrug USA
  • Market needs analysis
  • Value pricing
  • Plan approaches, KPI’s and brand story boards. * Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Prepare and track budgets for marketing department
  • Manage strategic collaborating with internal and external Partners
  • Work with Barenbrug staff to develop new products
  • Understand customer needs and market trends, present solutions that that mirrors that of the consumer’s needs.
  • Manage Direct Reports: Market Development Managers, Marketing communication Manager (1), Product Managers (2)


Supervisory Responsibilities


Supervise Territory/Category Management by region

  • Prepare the market for new products
  • Educate market on existing product use, benefits, and value-based performance, Increasing Barenbrug brand awareness
  • Working closely with University personnel and industry agents
  • Providing agronomic support for sales, distribution, dealers, and consumers
  • Participate in industry-related activities
  • Stay abreast of Forage and Turf Grass research at Territory level

Supervise Advertising and Communications

  • Development of marketing material and strategy
  • Concept and design of packaging, collateral, online and presentation materials
  • Manage social media strategy and presence
  • Prepare and organize trade show presence
  • Manage Customer Rewards Program


Supervise Product Management

  • Manage product makeup, use, agronomic characteristics, and value propositions
  • Proving Product/Concept’s Key value and market differentiators (trial, demo, research)
  • Manage variety life cycle
  • Presentation of technical information regarding products concepts, products, and services to enhance market acceptance.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Identify and assist develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.


Inter-Company Collaboration

  • Research: Trials, Development, Breeding goals
  • Production: Seed Stock, Variety Life Cycle
  • Sister companies: Concepts, Species, Collaboration
  • Operations: Product image (Tags, Bags, etc.)
  • Sales/Stock Management: Trends, Value-based Pricing


Position Key *Performance* *Indicators (KPI’s)*

  • Establish Performance Metrics (for team) and monitor results
  • Accurate analysis of Market Value and Product Price ratio (price/value acceptance)
  • Establish Customer Education and Dialog for market development and continuous improvement
  • Identify, by category Gain Creators and Pain Relievers, adjust product development accordingly
